This historic 3-star hotel is situated right in the centre of Volendam, alongside the harbour, and overlooking the IJsselmeer lake. Volendam is a typically Dutch village fisherman village that has kept its traditions throughout the centuries.

On the banks of the lake Markermeer (or IJsselmeer), stands the Best Western Hotel Spaander, an authentic and atmospheric accommodation in Volendam. The hotel dates from 1881 and although the hotel has many modern facilities, the original atmosphere has remained intact.

The original owner of the hotel used to let the many artists that stayed in the hotel pay for their accommodation in paintings. As a result, there are still more than a thousand works of art that grace the hotel's walls. Hotel Spaander, with in excess of 1350 original paintings scattered throughout the building, must be one of the most artistically minded hotels in The Netherlands. The paintings often depict the lives and people of Volendam, and have been painted by a number of famous Dutch artists.

Extensive and varied dining possibilities, where waiters still serve in traditional Volendam costumes. The breakfast buffet is served from 07:00 to 10:00 h. In the restaurant guests can enjoy savoury dishes in a warm environment. Besides international dishes the kitchen also serves many local dishes, like eel-specialities.
The 'Serre' is a large sunroom with many windows and a beautiful view of the IJsselmeer.
The 'Oude Herberg' (Old Inn) is the most authentic part of the hotel and still breathes a unique atmosphere.
In Brasserie Cathrien guests can enjoy a nice snack or drink, as well as a picturesque view of the harbour.
Finally, the hotel also has an atmospheric pub that is also popular with the local population.
